HyFin Vent Chest Seal from North American Rescue sets the standard for the prevention, management and treatment of open and/or tension pneumothorax potentially caused by penetrating chest trauma. Pneumothorax occurs due to air entering the chest through a wound, which compresses the lungs and worsens gas exchange up to complete paralysis of breathing. A collapsed lung is partially or completely switched off from breathing, leading to the death of a person.
The set includes two occlusive dressings, each individually wrapped, designed to allow the user to fill both entry and exit wounds, and also allows the user to apply only one and store the other until it is needed, depending on the situation.
The innovative design features 3 vents that prevent air from entering the chest cavity during inhalation and allow air to escape through the vents during exhalation. The 3 vents are dedicated to draining blood and also provide a redundant fail-safe system, as even if two of the three ducts become clogged, the vent will remain fully functional.
Advanced adhesive technology provides superior adhesion as the HyFin Vent Chest Seal is specifically designed for use in harsh environments where the casualty may be covered in blood, sweat or other environmental contaminants where a secure chest seal is a must.
Packed in a compact, strong, easy-to-open double foil pouch, each dressing is provided with a gauze pad to wipe the wound surface prior to application.
The package has a large red tab for one-step application, and a transparent backing facilitates placement on the wound area, adapting to the patient's chest.
The HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack complies with current standards of emergency medical care and TCCC and TECC recommendations for the management of penetrating chest injuries and is an excellent prehospital chest seal.
