NAR Hypothermia Prevention & Management Kit Insula (HPMK-I)

Building on the success of the HPMK, a new patented HPMK-I™ hypothermia prevention and treatment kit from the world-renowned North American Rescue (NAR) brand has been designed and developed. It features a reinforced Insulated™ heat-reflective shell that provides unprecedented strength, flexibility, lightness, and impermeability to wind and rain. Also, this kit is now fully insulated to meet the new CoTCCC guidelines.

The HRS-I™ is the kit's durable outer shell, made of a 5-ply composite fabric with a protected conductive heat reflective layer and a new insulation layer that provides additional excellent heat retention. All-around (360°) quick access to the casualty with minimal environmental exposure is achieved through the use of a 1.5-inch (38 mm) continuous Velcro closure around the perimeter of the blanket.

The HRS-I™ also features a top-to-bottom insulated tapered shape and an integrated hood to maximize isothermal comfort. The heat source in the HPMK-I™ is a self-heating, oxygen-activated, 4-cell Ready Heat blanket designed to maintain up to 10 hours of continuous dry heat (no external power source required). This low-volume kit is vacuum-packed in a durable, flexible pouch with NAR's Red Tip Technology® for easy access and quick deployment.

In addition to all of the above, the new top and bottom layers of insulation exceed the performance of keeping you comfortable inside the Army Sleep System Patrol Bag. This insulation is highly compressible but also has excellent reflectivity once opened. The extra insulation is hydrophobic and does not retain liquid (does not gain extra weight).

The blanket is reinforced and tested to carry a 250+ lb (110+ kg) wounded person.

The kit is vacuumed in a durable pouch for protective storage, taking up little space.
