RevMedx XSTAT-15 Hemostatic Applicator
RevMedx XSTAT-15 is a modern hemostatic device designed for rapid control of critical bleeding from narrow and deep wound channels, particularly in the extremities and junctional areas. The applicator is intended for situations where the use of a tourniquet is not possible or does not provide the necessary result, and where the speed of care is critical.
The system is based on special containers filled with miniature hemostatic sponges. Upon contact with blood, they can expand up to ten times their original volume, filling the wound channel and creating internal pressure. Thanks to this mechanism, prolonged manual compression, which is typically required when packing a wound with gauze or hemostatic dressings, is not necessary after the system is deployed.
Convenient Format for Rapid Application
XSTAT-15 features a compact syringe-style design that allows hemostatic material to be quickly delivered into the wound channel. The applicator's small diameter makes it particularly suitable for narrow and difficult-to-access wounds where larger wound-packing systems may be difficult to use.
The hemostatic sponges are contained within enclosed pouches. This design makes them easier to identify and remove during subsequent surgical wound treatment and helps reduce the risk of individual components being left behind in the tissue.
How It Works
Once introduced into the wound channel, the hemostatic elements come into contact with blood and rapidly expand. As they increase in volume, they fill the available space and create mechanical pressure within the wound, helping to control bleeding.
The applicator is recommended by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) for controlling bleeding in cases where a tourniquet cannot effectively stop it. The device is also FDA-cleared for use in life-threatening bleeding from narrow wound channels and non-compressible wounds.
