Water-Jel® Burn Dressings are a gelatinized aqueous mixture designed to perform four important burn treatment steps in a single application:
1. Due to its gelatinous nature, it seals the burn from further contamination, preventing fluids at the burn site from seeping through the dressing or evaporating through it;
2. Cools the burn site (absorbs excess heat);
3. Relieves pain by transferring heat into itself;
4. While cooling the burn, the product warms up, keeping the area covered with a warm dressing, helping prevent hypothermia.
Water-Jel® Burn Dressings absorb temperatures of approximately 1100°C (over 2000°F) — this is extremely important considering that human bone carbonizes at 760°C (1400°F), and other dressings can melt. This makes the product not only a welcome addition to any first aid kit but also indispensable in the event of a white phosphorus injury.
Water-Jel® contains a generous amount of extra gel for use on any hyperemic (blood-filled) or stagnant areas around the primary burn, and the gel can be left in place for over four hours.
Latex-free and has an unlimited shelf life in its original packaging at temperatures ranging from +15°C to +25°C (59°F to 77°F).
